Day 1 (Wednesday)
Arrival in Riga. Meeting at the station. Transfer to the hotel. A walking tour through the old town – Town Hall Square, Blackheads House, Convent Court, walls and towers of the Church of St. Peter and the Riga Dome Cathedral. Center of the city- Freedom Monument, Boulevard Ring and parks. In a free time You will have the opportunity to walk through the narrow streets of the Old Town, to sit in a cozy cafes and enjoy the famous Riga Balsam with coffee and chocolate or to attend a concert of organ music at the Dome Cathedral. In the evening, three town wooden boats – 100-year-old Darling and very young Maria and Rebeka invite you on a fascinating hour-long walk through the city’s canals and the river Daugava along the parks, historic buildings and the panorama of the Old Town. Day 2 (Thursday)
A Breakfast. Free time. After lunch – tour “Palaces and castles of Zemgale”. The ruins of the castle of the knights of the Livonian Order and the castle of the Dukes of Courland in the 16th century in Bauska city. Visiting the Rundale Palace and it’s beautiful park. The palace, located just 70 km from Riga, is an excellent example of Baroque architecture and Rococo XVIII century in Latvia, the creation of the great architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Acquaintance with the city of Jelgava – the former capital of the Duchy of Courland: Palace E.I.Birona – Duke of Courland and a favorite of the Russian Empress Anna Ivanovna, the Orthodox Church Sv.Simeona and Anna. Return to Riga in the evening. . We recommend to visit the recreational center ” LIDO”, where in the favorite vacation place on the banks of the Daugava River, you can enjoy excellent Latvian national food and beer, prepared by local brewers and relax in the center courtyard. Day 3 (Friday)
A Breakfast. Free day. On request for an extra charge – excursion “Kurzeme Switzerland.” You will visit the Jaunmoku castle built in the early XX century by order of the mayor of Riga and it was built as his summer hunting residence. Then you will see the old and original small towns of Kurzeme – Kandava and Sabile. Further our tour will continue in the scenic Abava River Valley – the protected area – the city of Kuldiga, Kurland’s oldest city, applying for introduction in UNESCO World Heritage List. The Proude of Kuldiga – the widest waterfall in Europe – “Ventas Rumba” and the old town, maintaining this buildings of century XVII-XVIII. One of the strongest impressions of the day will be a visit to the caves Riezhupe Sand with a walk along the longest underground labyrinth of Latvia. Returning to Riga. Day 4 (Saturday)
A Breakfast. Tour one of the most beautiful cities of Latvia Sigulda – a city of sports, parks, history and beautiful legends. You will see the bobsleigh track, the old and the new castle of Sigulda, visit the city track, where in summer You are invited to descent from the mountain on the summer toboggan, to attend the biggest cave in Latvia – cave Gutmana, You will hear the legend of the Rose of Turaida, visit Turaida manor and the medieval Turaida Castle, You will also enjoy the magnificent panorama of the ancient bed of the river Gauja from the lookout watchtower of the castle and it will be possible to buy the famous Sigulda souvenirs – cane. After the tour we offer to satisfy your hunger and to try Latvian food in a beautiful, covered with legends tavern “Witch’s Kitchen” or in the bistro and entertainment complex “Ramkalni”, which is picturesquely situated on the banks of the river Gauja. Day 5 ( Sunday)
A Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel. Excursion to Jurmala – the largest resort in the Baltic States, located on the shores of the Gulf of Riga. History of the resort city. District of Lielupe to Dubulti with original old wooden buildings. Access to the sea in the “Ragakāpa” natural park, planted with pine trees and there are located also a three-hundred years old and the highest dunes on the coast of Latvia.
